Nutrition Support Services, Inc. was founded in 1988.  We are an active and visible wellness advocate for adolescents and adults by being a liaison to radio and television spots that promote healthy lifestyles.  The motivating force behind our mission is the fact that the general public is confused and unclear about nutrition and prevention. To this end, we produced the video program  An Awesome Body By Age 14.  This video is based upon our experience with adolescent obesity counseling and current scientific research. Numerous hospitals, educational institutions and a national physician practice management group, are using the video to educate youth about healthy eating.
We are  a children’s fitness workshop leader for public schools and are a nutrition source for numerous pediatricians in the Houston area. We were chosen to participate in the National Assessment of Educational Progress validation study in St. Louis Missouri. This study help to validate the findings of the 1996 Nation’s Report Card.  To add, we presented "Medical Consequences of Nutrition Misinformation" at the Association for Worksite Health Promotion regional conference and was well received. Our founder has taught nutrition at the University of Houston and Houston Community College in addition to a nutrition consulting practice.
The N.E.W Choices sm  positive eating nutrition program helps adults attain health goals. Currently, it's provided at the worksite and in the community. Because of busy lifestyles, we are currently remodeling the program for internet use so adults can participate at their convenience.  Our clients include Amoco Production Company, British Petroleum, Sisters of Charity Hospital Corporation, Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District, The Fit Stop among others.
Additionally, we manage the clinical nutrition program at a Houston Medical Center facility that specializes in treating AIDS, cancer, diabetes, and other sub acute illnesses. We  consult with MHMR chemical abuse homes as well as personal care and mental retardation care centers. We have excelled as a clinical nutrition manager and preventive health educator since 1983.  Accounts include:  The Art Institute, Methodist Institute of Preventive Medicine, British Petroleum, Amoco Production Company, Sisters of Charity Corporation, and others.
Our founder has a Master of Science degree in nutrition from Texas Woman's University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science & Nutrition from Texas A&M University. Memberships:   previous board member of the Houston Area Dietetic Association, past-Internet Chair, past Chair of the American Heart Association Nutrition Committee, Association of Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition.
